San Diego

San Diego, a port and city in southern California, United States, and the seat of San Diego County (1850).
It is located on the Pacific Ocean in San Diego Bay, just north of the international border with Mexico and approximately 120 miles (195 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles. The city is divided into two sections of unequal size: one that spans north and east of San Diego Bay, and the other that reaches southeastward from the bay to the Mexican border. The geography of the city site is diverse, with huge mesas, canyons, and wide valleys. To the north (particularly in the La Jolla district) and eastward toward a range of mountains at the periphery of the major built-up area, the topography gets hillier. The region enjoys a moderate, sunny environment all year, with most of the precipitation falling during the winter.
El Cajon is a city in San Diego County, California, about 17 miles (27 kilometers) east of downtown San Diego. The city gets its name from Rancho El Cajón, which was called by the box-like shape of the valley that surrounds it, and is also the source of the city's widespread moniker, "The Box."
